Greek Life at UWSP

  •      The Greek community at UW-Stevens Point consists of eight social organizations, three sororities and five fraternities.  The Greeks on campus come together into one organization known as the Inter-Greek Council, or IGC.  Through IGC, brothers and sisters are encouraged in the act of promoting fellowship between organizations, through the campus, and with the community.

Theta Xi and the other organizations often have social gatherings together.  Some of these social gatehrings include creating a team for Homecoming Week with a sorority, the Iris Social with Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, Thanksgiving Dinner, white elephant gift exchanges, pumpkin carving, beach outings or movie/game nights.  We sometimes also pair up and do intramural sports together such as indoor volleyball or trenchball.  There is also a Greek Week, which occurs in the spring semester each year where all of the fraternities and sororities get together and have a tournament to see who the true Kings and Queens of Greek Week are.  Some of the events include relay races, volleyball tournaments, eating competitions, scavenger hunts and even a Zeus and Aphrodite crowning ceremony.

Often times two organizations will pair up in order to complete a community service project or other philanthropy, strengthening the bonds between the organizations and the members within.  By joining a fraternity or sorority you are not only creating lifelong friendships with your brothers or sisters, but also with the members of the other organizations.  When joining a Greek organization, you are instantly connected to a social pipeline that spans across all majors and ages, from the Natural Resources department to Theatre to Communications to Computer Science, from Freshman to Senior to Super-Senior.  The possibilities are limitless with countless networking opportunities.
